Boxing Day

Well, we got through Christmas Day. It's the first time in several years that Carol and I have spent the Festive Season on our own. Daniel has been here, but went back to St Alban's on Thursday afternoon. Sam wasn't here either. Chloe is presumably with Steve. The weather has improved. The past couple of days have been really cold. I'm glad we haven't had to drive anywhere as the roads have been really bad, slippery like glass. We took Daniel into the city centre the other evening, and if we hadn't driven carefully, we'd have gone sideways into a ditch. Not nice. It really was quite dangerous, and even though we were driving slowly, there were several real idiots on the road who weren't bothered about other people's safety. We saw quite a few cars that had ended up in either the ditch or running into lamp-posts.

We didn't buy a 'cut' Christmas tree this year. We decided on a live one with roots, which we got from a garden centre on the A5 near Potterspury. It came in a rather nice pot, not particularly big, and we hope, if we look after it, give it water etc. it might survive and then be  able to use it again next year. We'll have to wait and see. We got battery-powered lights, and decorations from IKEA, which look really good.
