Milton Keynes Citizen Article

In this weeks edition of our local paper "The Milton Keynes Citizen", the following article appeared:

'LANDLORD FINED AFTER FAILING TO CHECK ON WASTE DISPOSAL'

'A company has been ordered to pay more than £1000 after a serious case of fly tipping.'
'Representatives from Copper Homes House Holdings pleaded guilty to two counts of breaching the duty of care to dispose of waste when he appeared at Milton Keynes Magistrates Court on Wednesday January 26th.'

'They were fined £350 for each breach of their duty of care in contravention of Section 34 of the Environmental Protection Act 1990 as well as £350 towards the council's legal costs.'

'Magistrates heard how enforcement officers were called to a car park off Simpson Road in Fenny Stratford in March 2010 because of large-scale fly tipping. The company had hired a man to clear a property in Crownhill, but failed to check he was a registered waste carrier. They also failed to check there was an audit trail tracking the waste to its final destination.'
